Parima's Acoustic Lounge is Burlington's Cultural Café, with musical & spoken-word entertainment several nights a week. Unplug yourself and relax to unplugged local artists.

The Acoustic Lounge, a separate, incredible space nestled within Parima Restaurant, recalls within us a time when listening to live music being created and poetry being spoken was an attentive, participatory event; a time when the artist on stage could feed off the energy of a group of individuals and truly flourish; a time when one could sit in comfortable seat, enjoy a quality drink and some light fare, and ruminate on the beauty of live art.

Strolling into the Acoustic Lounge, you are immediately immersed into a gorgeous space, both in its architecture and décor. The architect’s given name to the space is the Frank Lloyd Wright Room, as the room is modeled with every careful line and light after a Wright design. The aesthetic of craftsmanship alone conveys as much as the best poem. And as you descend the small wooden steps, the experience continues to urge you on. Bathed in soft red light and a myriad of dancing candles, all reflecting quietly in the elegant mirrors that line the walls, you let your eyes dance around the room- taking in an array of imported Thai antiques, plush leather couches and chairs, handcrafted tables, and a colorful cast of characters seated around you talking quietly, eager for tonight’s show to begin.

Taking a seat, you take stock of the situation: here you are, tucked away in a near-secret gem of a room twice removed from the bustling city streets, and with the door back out to the main floor of Parima restaurant shut behind you, only the sounds and voices of these people in here with you can be heard. Suddenly the Guitarist, and the Poet alongside him, strike a chord and voice a word, and the murmurs quiet down. The show is about to begin. And for the next hour or two, a shared experienced of true, intellectual, spiritual artistry will create a feeling within everyone that, at least on this night, something beautiful is happening. And as we step back out into the night hours later, inspired, well fed and loose, we feel extremely thankful that such a space exists here in Burlington.

With a weekly poetry night, a weekly acoustic singer/song-writer night, and various other live events (as well as the opportunity for private parties), the Acoustic Lounge in Parima Restaurant is lighting fires in the hearts and minds of audiences and artists alike. And with each passing week, and each new person’s contribution to this collective scene, the fire is only growing brighter.
